This Week in Startups is a podcast that is 280 episodes strong. Host Jason Calacanis has been surfacing new startups for years providing constructive criticism and feedback for your entrepreneurs around the globe. Recently the show has placed two countries against each other, in a battle for the hottest startup. This time its Australia vs New Zealand!

Hosting from one of Australia’s hottest and largest co-working spaces, Fishburners, Ned Moorfield is Co-founder of taxi-based startup GoCatch.com. The Aussie startups who got to pitch were:

    • Teacher Time -  a service to connect inspired teachers to each other.
    • ProcessGo – a web app to help enterprises select a better business process.
    • Rezdy – a booking engine specialized in tours and activities.

Moorfield describes as 3 of the hottest startup in Australia right now. There was plenty of cross-tasman rivalry including distractions from a sheep. Overall it is great to see Australian (and NZ) startups be showcased on the international stage.

I won’t spoil the surprise of who won, you’ll have to watch the episode to find out.
