In a post on Facebook, Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg says the service has now grown to a massive 1.8 billion people. This is up from 1.65 Billion in April and Facebook’s mobile apps are now used by a staggering 1.2 billion people every single day.

Zuck went on to say they’re building new tools to make it easier to express yourself in creative ways. This is in response to the growing trend of users creating and sharing more video than ever.

Facebook Live is one of those parts of Facebook that broke on to the scene with a big launch, but day-to-day you may not think about. Clearly people are.

The number of people going Live on Facebook at any moment has grown by 4x since May.

Perhaps the bigger surprise is the clone of Snapchat with Instagram Stories. In less than 3 months, Facebook-owned Instagram now sees 100 million people using Stories every day.

Along with today’s announcements comes the unveiling of a brand new camera across all apps. This will sit ‘right next to your News Feed’.

Zuck also hints at additional visual messaging tools over the next few months, expect video filters.

Basically Facebook are killing it right now, with 1.8 Billion on Facebook, 1 Billion on WhatsApp, 1 Billion on Messenger and 500 Million+ on Instagram. Of course many of those users are the same users, but the numbers are monumental, larger than many countries combined, that’s one hell of an advertising base.
