General Assembly is a global educational institution shaking up the education industry. This week, they announced the opening of its second Sydney campus in Surry Hills. GA say there’s a growing demand from students who want the skills to be competitive of the 21st century economy. In the 18 months since launching in Australia, General Assembly has developed a curriculum led by 143 instructors, across 315 classes which has equipped over 5000 individuals with skills relevant for the digital economy.
Local businesses are also turning to General Assembly to ensure their employees have the right skills to drive innovation within their organisation and meet the emerging challenges brought about by disruptive technology. Recently, General Assembly welcomed over 30 students from leading publishers Fairfax, ABC and News Corp to its Web Development, User Experience and Product Management courses.
Globally, 96 percent of General Assembly’s immersive graduates have found new, paid employment within 90 days of graduation. Locally companies including Energy One, Orchard, Objective Digital, GoodCall and Airtasker have hired recent GA graduates as full time employees, apprentices, or as contractors.
Established in early 2011 as an innovative community in New York City for entrepreneurs and start-up companies, General Assembly now has classrooms and campuses in nine cities across the United States, London, Hong Kong, Germany and Australia.
