Boxee may have had their fancy launch event last week, but Australian’s who pre-ordered are now starting to receive their devices. As you’d expect, I picked up a Boxee Box and will be reviewing it in this coming week after spending a few days with it. One of the biggest questions is what the online content offerings are locally, while US-residents get access to Hulu and Netflix, we don’t have the same deals (yet) down under.

As a taste of things to come, check out some hands-on photos with the brand new, shiny, small, Boxee Box.

Some initial thoughts on the Boxee Box:

  • The control is awesome, needs backlighting
  • Hardware is well made, looks great (good job D-link)
  • Comes with HDMI cable
  • Came with Power over Ethernet kit (I ordered online from DSE)
  • Some attempts to stream content are met with ‘no available in your region’ type messages
