    Merry Christmas you incredible bastards

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope that when you look under the Christmas tree this morning, you discover that your loved ones and that guy in the big red suit have heard your callings for technology products.

If your gadgets are battery powered, I hope you planned ahead as there’s nothing worse than getting a remote controlled car, a drone or handheld and not being able to use it on Christmas Day. While I’d hoped by now that manufacturers would get better at including batteries with the products, it seems TVs remain one of the few that reliably do for their remotes.

Technology impacts our lives in so many different and varied ways and while today I’m sure you’ll all use your phones to check Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat a few hundred times, don’t forget to take some time out, especially today to spend time with the ones you love.

Perhaps the best use of technology today would be to connect with those who couldn’t travel and be together in person. Of course we’re spoilt for choice now when it comes to video calling, not just the traditional Skype option, which remains universal, but Facebook Messenger recently introduced group video calling. Of course if you’ve convinced your family to all buy Apple products, then Facetime is your best friend today.

Not many get to achieve it, but I still dream of a day when we can connect family in interstate or international locations through a video call that’s projected on a wall and allow to make it feel like the other side of the planet is just the next room away.

A quick thanks to everyone damn one of you who’ve read techAU this year, who’ve shared and replied on social media, its been another amazing year and what’s really exciting is the extension of coverage into automotive reviews.

In the last 12 months, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to spend a week behind the wheel of the Tesla Model S, the Ford Mustang GT, the Ford Focus RS and the Honda Civic VTi-LX. If you told me 10 years ago when I started the site, that would happen, I would have told you – not in a million Christmases.

The reason these opportunities to continue to happen is because of you and for that I will be eternally greatful.

    Thankyou.

Now however your day goes down, make sure you try and fit in some gaming of any variety, personally I prefer a quick drift around Byron Bay in the Focus RSRX thanks to Forza Horizon 3’s recent Blizzard Mountain expansion.
