Need fast and portable storage? SanDisk have a 128GB USB-C flash drive

    Sandisk

Sandisk have just added a 128GB USB Type-C flash drive to their lineup. Great for those who need highest-speed data transfers on portable storage and as more mobile phones add USB-C ports, copying data between your phone and PC has never been faster, or easier. Cloud storage may be all the rage, but until we all have a ubiquitous NBN, upload transfer speeds continue to be prohibitive and access spotty, which puts many Australians in the position of still using the sneaker-net to deliver files between machines.

Being USB Type-C, one of the massive advantages is never having to worry about which size is up, something you never get right the first time. Being the latest USB 3.1 standard, the thumbdrive is capable of 150MB/s that means its seconds, not minutes or hours for copying even sizable data. The drive comes in multiple sizes from 16GB all the way up to 128GB (prices below).

SanDisk Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand, George Saad said,

“We expect to see many new USB Type-C supported devices released in 2016.”

“As more consumers purchase ultra-mobile PCs, smartphones and tablets that feature this new, more advanced USB standard, it is critical to offer a complete ecosystem of compatible products.

New offerings, like our SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive, will give consumers the capabilities they’ve come to expect from traditional Type A ports, but with the added benefit of better performance.”

SanDisk’s fastest and highest capacity USB Type-C offering. The USB drive features a slim, retractable design to protect the reversible connector and is compatible with the SanDisk Memory Zone app for Android. The app, which is available for free through the Google Play™ Store, auto-launches upon insertion of the drive into a compatible device, allowing immediate access to the user’s content and easy file management.

    Phone

SanDisk is owned by Western Digital, so their storage expertise is extensive. While the Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive is the company’s first dedicated USB-C device, they do have runs on the board with Type-C flash memory solutions which range from dual USB drives to portable SSDs.

    Pricing and Availability

The SanDisk Ultra USB Type-C Flash Drive features a five-year warranty, and is available at DCXpert, digiDIRECT, PC Byte, Tech2Go and Wireless1.

Smaller sizes are still really affordable at around $1 per GB, growing to a still really well priced $69.95 for the biggest 128GB model.
