Surface Pro to be released in more countries, Australia included

Microsoft announced this morning that it has plans to launch its Windows 8 tablet in the ‘coming months’. In a brief statement the company said that

…[in] late March the rollout of Surface will continue, bringing Surface RT with Windows RT to Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore and Taiwan and Surface Pro with Windows 8 Pro to Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, New Zealand and the United Kingdom in the coming months.

They say late March that the rollout will continue, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that Australia will be included in that part of the roll out, so expect to see some more Australian specific details such as the price and exact date to be announced in the upcoming weeks. The Surface Pro’s supplies, particularly the 128gb model have been continuously running short in the US and Canada since release, so I’d expect it to be released here when those supply issues are sorted out.
