Tech companies are getting creative this year for Christmas

Most of the creativity from tech companies is saved for April Fools gags, but its great to see this year, some of that energy was saved for Christmas. Over the past few days, in the lead up to Christmas, we’ve seen a number of tech companies release their customers and fans a Merry Christmas in interesting new ways.

It seems the good old Christmas card is simply not enough in 2015/16.

    Happy Holidays from Boston Dynamics

From the company that makes robot dogs, Boston Dynamics decided to make a very different kind of Santa and reindeers setup, using 3 of their robot dogs called Spot. Spot is a four-legged robot designed for indoor and outdoor operation. It is electrically powered and hydraulically actuated. Spot has a sensor head that helps it navigate and negotiate rough terrain.

If you watch right to the end, the video cuts off just a few frames from where it looks like they 2nd and 3rd Spots may have collided. That’d just ruin the holiday cheer, so best it ended where it did.

    Merry Model X-mas by Tesla

This year, the company shipped the first Model X vehicles to customers and naturally the smart engineers at Tesla leveraged that for a very impressive Model X light display. Complete with the falcon wing door opening and musically timed light show, featuring 3 all-electric, Model X vehicles, this is a Merry Xmas done very, very right.
