    TIDAL now available on SONOS

    TIDAL

Premium audio system SONOS has already added support for TIDAL. If you were under a rock today, you missed the launch of yet another music streaming service. The biggest difference with TIDAL is the people who created it, artists, and plenty of them. Usher, Beyoncé, JAY Z, Kanye West, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Madonna, Chris Martin, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Daft Punk and Alicia Keys were all on stage for the launch of the service (from a company that started in October last year).

Not satisfied with the royalties and quality available on other services, this group of A-list stars all signed a declaration during this morning’s press conference, then proceeded to look awkward. This isn’t an exclusive agreement to have their music on TIDAL, expect their music to stay on Spotify, Xbox Music, Google Music, Rdio and more. The artists are hoping that by having a completing service, they’ll have a more powerful bargaining chip around the table.

The artists on stage have exclusive content on TIDAL and that could be the biggest draw for the service.

TIDAL is now the first high fidelity lossless music streaming service with HD music videos and curated editorial, and that’s all available right now on SONOS. With a TIDAL music subscription and Sonos smart speakers, music lovers can stream more than 25 million songs from your favourite artists in HiFi quality to any room in the home.

Sonos CEO, John MacFarlane said; “Artists are more in tune than ever with how people are listening to their music. That changes the game – TIDAL represents the future of music.”

The price of TIDAL is comparable to existing audio services for the base plan which strangely is called TIDAL Premium for US$9.99. There’s also the lossless tier which is known as TIDAL HiFi for double the price at US$19.99 per month. There’s 30 day free trials, but they do make you hand over a credit card or paypal, so you’ll need to set a calendar reminder.
