Track your parcels, unlock your Australia Post locker with Apple Watch

The Apple Watch was recently released, but since the start of the year Australia Post has been considering how they could leverage it. With the reasonably safe assumption Apple’s latest product category was going to be a success, the uber accessible device on your wrist could have big opportunities.

Australia is giving Apple Watch owners the ability to track their deliveries and receive update notifications right to your wrist. With more of us ordering parcels online, it’s great to see we’re trying to make that process as efficient and informed as possible. This doesn’t do anything to increase the regularity of updates though and that’s probably the biggest issue right now.

The App syncs with your existing MyPost Deliveries account so you can add the Post Office or Parcel Locker location that you send your parcels to. If a new parcel arrives, you’ll get the notification straight to your wrist. This would be handy if it was aware of your location and when you left work at the end of the day, reminded you to call by the locker to collect your parcel.

If you arrive at the locker, just access the notification, tap on it and you’ll get a QR code that you can scan to unlock the locker and retrieve your package. It may not sound like much, but if the person next to you is fumbling around with their phone while you get in and get out in seconds, you’ll definitely start to attract attention.

The new Australia Post iOS App with Apple Watch support is available now, for free, from the App Store.
