TRW brought a 1:1 scale, transparent car to CES

    image

TRW is a parts company that manufacturers for both auto makers and the aftermarket. This year they brought a full sized transparent car. The full plastic vehicle is complete with working doors, so you can sit inside it. Let me tell you, it’s a bizarre experience to see through the car body, but this beast is never designed for the road.

The car was created to showcase the TRW products in a realistic way, so customers didn’t have to imagine something stretched out on a bench, would really look on a vehicle. It’s a neat trick and components can be switched out easily. One of the best products they offer is a custom safety steering wheel that has an LED display built in for alerts to the driver. If you take both hands off the wheel, you’ll see an icon telling you to put them back. If you the speed zone changes, the camera in front will send a notification of the current speed limit to the steering wheel.

While you can’t drive this car, it’s a fantastic way to showcase aftermarket and safety components. If you’re at CES, I definitely recommend you check it out.
