Microsoft initially said the Release Preview would be available in the first week of June, well if you’re in Australia, check the calendar, today is the first of June. A number of news sites had been reporting the release would be early on the 31st of May and in the US, they were right.

Paul Thurrott over at http://www.winsupersite.com/ got the build early and has an awesome breakdown of what’s new. Included in the update is the introduction of new built-in metro apps like Sports, News and Travel. There’s also an introduction of multi-touch trackpad gestures.

We’ll bring you more news as we spend time with the latest release. You can download the x86 version (2.5GB) or x64 version (3.3GB) of Windows 8 Release Preview now.
