Windows Phone 8 Australian launch scheduled for October 30th

    Windows Phone 8

Windows Phone 8 has been somewhat of a mystery so far, but it’s big coming out party isn’t far away. Technology media have received invites today from Microsoft inviting them to Sydney at 9am on October 30th. An extremely brief email simply asked recipients to “Save the date for a Windows Phone 8 briefing on October 30th at 9am. Stay tune, more details to come soon”.

Expectations that arise from an invite like this are that we’ll see new Windows Phone 8 hardware. Over the past couple of months we’ve been shown the Nokia 820 and 920 as well as HTC 8X and 8S and Samsung Ativ WP8 devices, but haven’t been able to get hands-on. October 30th should be the day that all changes.

Also each press conference from Microsoft over the last few months has slowly highlighted features of the upcoming OS upgrade, but they’ve been very resistant to show everything. Also there’s the big issue of an unreleased Windows Phone SDK for developers, so it’d make sense we see that released on the same day.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on all the details from the event.
