Poor AMD has had another bad quarter, this time stating a $600 million US Net loss. This must be very disappointing for the company but hopefully they can turn their frown upside-down and bring out some awesome quad cores or something… I hope.
I seriously hope they do though, the CPU market wouldn’t be much fun without them.
Obviously taking a beating from the Intel Core 2 CPU’s, AMD aren’t doing so well in the benchmark areas. To help potential customer’s workout exactly what are benchmarks, AMD have brought out this handy presentation about benchmarks and how customers should interpret the results. In my opinion, they wouldn’t be doing this if they weren’t so obviously loosing the benchmark wars so badly, but I’ll let you guys decide.
Their is actually some good info in the presentation though, and they do have a few good points as to how some companies abuse benchmark results in advertising. It also gives a nice rundown about what benchmarks actually are.
