The release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is approaching fast. There’s something a bit special about how the movie was filmed. It was recorded at 48 fps, up from the standard 24, this higher frame rate is supposed to make everything look ultra realistic. The technology is now being marketed as (high frame rate) HFR 3D movies.
While not all theatres are capable of playing back movies at the higher frame rate and simply down sample them, there are some that can. If you’re not a fan of 3D, but would like to treat your eyeballs with HFR, you’re out of luck, with Warner Brothers only releasing the 48fps version in 3D.
The list below is continuously updated by a dedicated fan known simply as Michael. If you’re living near one of the following cinemas, then you’re in luck and will have the option to see The Hobbit in HFR 3D.
