It’s iPhone day. The day where those Apple fans get their hands on the latest and greatest from Cupertino. While there’s plenty of discussion around Apple’s decision to ditch the headphone port in this release, and the fact the hardware design enters its third year, but for those getting a new phone, none of that matters.

The new phone is faster, stronger, smarter and better and clearly Apple’s best device yet. The water resistance allows those still playing Pokemon to do so without fear they’re chancing the life of their device. Those photographers and video creators who want better camera technology to create better content will be helped by optical image stablisation. For those who like things big, the iPhone 7 Plus features the dual lens technology that for the first time allows you to create some amazing depth of field effects.

If you’re a gamer, you’ll enjoy the upgraded A10 processor to reduce load times and we can all appreciate Apple finally ditched the insufficient 16GB model in favour of 32-256GB of storage.

If you pre-ordered the iPhone 7, then chances are you’ll be getting it today. If you decided to just wait and pick one up at retail stores, well, good luck. Reports are that demand is strong (as always) stock levels are low, so even if you do find out a store has one, don’t expect them to have many, with any stock likely restricted to specific colours and sizes.

While existing iPhone owners can also upgrade, the new iPhone 7 will ship with iOS10 pre-installed. Offering many refinements over previous versions, iOS10 offers significant updates to the lockscreen notifications, Siri functionality that allows interaction with apps via voice only, as well as dramatic improvements in predictive text.
