One of the launch applications for Ford’s AppLink into Asia Pacific announcement was Kaliki. I have to admit, before the press conference at Computex, I had never heard of the service. The basic idea here is not music, Pandora and others have that taken care of, the goal here is not entertainment, but information.
Kaliki is currently only available on Android and allows you to access your favourite news and information which is read to you by professional speakers. Along with the latest headlines, the service also offers the latest traffic and weather information. This definitely is an important app for Ford’s AppLink, but as I mentioned, it’s currently Android-only.
Let’s hope they go cross-platform soon. You can try Kaliki now on your Android phone, but you’ll have to wait for early 2014 for AppLink to arrive in Ford vehicles.
