Microsoft’s brand new, security app is now available. Microsoft Security Essentials is a dead easy, set and forget solution to viruses, spyware and other malicious software. This replaces their old paid product Windows Live OneCare.
I’ve been using it since the tech preview came out a few months ago. This is a great set and forget solution, there’s no and annoying alerts or popups, it just runs in the background, does what it’s meant to do and the best part is there’s no noticeable impact on system performance.
This should now become the default option for consumer Windows security. If your currently paying for a security suite, then when your renewal comes up, ask yourself what your getting for your money when there’s a great free solution now available from Microsoft.
There’s 32-bit versions available for XP, Vista and 7, and 64-bit versions available for Vista and 7.
