This morning Motorola and Telstra announced the Razr HD and Razr M in Australia, an exclusive partnership. The Razr HD and Razr M are the first phones made by Google and Motorola after Google purchased Motorola back in August 2011.
Both phones support 4G LTE on Telstra along with HD voice. Battery life is a key point on these phones, Motorola marketing these phones as the "All day phone", this is possible with a 2500 mAh battery in the Razr HD and a 2000 mAh battery in the Razr M. In comparison the Samsung S3 has a 2,100 mAh battery and the iPhone 5 has a 1440 mAh battery. Important to note, the S3 has a removable battery while the Razr HD, Razr M and iPhone 5 do not.
These Razrs also have Kevlar fibre backs with Gorilla Glass displays. They are also coated in a splashguard coating inside and out to improve mishaps with water. Disappointingly, especially from a company owned by Google both phones will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich with an upgrade to Jelly Bean being available before Christmas for the Razr HD and early January for the Razr M.
From today you can pick up the Razr HD from $5 per month on the Telstra $60 Every Day Connect Plan or $720 outright. The Razr M won’t be available till early November then you will be able to pick that up for $0 upfront on the same plan or $600 outright. The phone is exclusive with Telstra till the end of the year.
More on these phones in the coming weeks.
