There’s two new Slingboxes available in the US. The new top of the line Slingbox 500 and baby brother Slingbox 350 both have brand new hardware design. No that image above isn’t a device that’s been run over by a truck, that’s the design. This non-stackable design started with Boxee Box and is now being picked up by others. Ultimately if you stick this behind a tinted glass door in your low line unit, it doesn’t matter, but if your set-top-boxes are being shown off, it certainly is unique.

As with all international announcements, we Aussie entertainment fans go rushing for Australian availability details. There’s no official information on the Aussie Slingbox site, but a forum user omgitsdave claims that he has an email from Slingbox management that says the HD versions ( 500 and 350) will not be available until next year.

The Slingbox 500 model is a serious upgrade over existing offerings, with it’s new 1080p HD quality, built-in WiFi, simplified setup, new SlingProjector streams content from your mobile device to your TV.
