Nokia has just announced their new budget conscious device, the Lumia 520, will be on sale from April 30 at Telstra for $179 and unlocked from JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Dick Smith for $229.
The Windows Phone 8 device will come in two colours, black and yellow (now try and go your day without the annoying song stuck in your head) and features a 1.0GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 4-inch screen, 512mb ram, 5 megapixel camera as well as Nokia’s suite of apps like Maps, Music and Cinemagraph.
The device seems like a great option for prepaid buyers, the device has respectable specs with its ability to change the back and its colour plus even though the device is low end, it’s running Windows Phone so it will still most likely run quite smoothly. The device also has a super sensitive touch screen, just like the Lumia 920, a first in devices of its category.
Andrew Volard, Telstra Director Mobile said Telstra is thrilled to offer its customers the Nokia Lumia 520.
“The Nokia Lumia 920 has been a really popular device for us and it’s great to see Nokia introducing a Windows Phone 8 handset into Telstra’s pre-paid range. We’re excited to launch the Nokia Lumia 520 as an affordable Windows Phone 8 option for our customers.”
The device, even unlocked, only features the 850/2100 frequencies for now, so you’re out of luck if you’re on Optus.
