Just as Nvidia thought they had the GPU market all to themselves, AMD announced their rival top-end card the HD 4870 X2, which is scheduled for release in August.
In response Nvidia are dropping the prices on the GTX 280 and the GTX 260 cards, this is great news for consumers who’ll now be able to pick up a GPU with phenomenal performance at an affordable price. This is also great news for those building SLI and Tri-SLI gaming rigs as you may be able to land 2 or even 3 of these monsters without selling organs.
