Three more new Rapid and Ultra-Rapid RAA Charge sites came online in September helping to reach the goal of covering South Australia with chargers border to border across metro and regional areas.
The new charging sites include a 200kW Ultra-Rapid site at Waikerie Civic Centre and two 150kW Rapid charging sites at Blackwood Community Centre as well as Klose’s Foodland, Woodside.
Interestingly the Waikerie charging site is the first of up to 10 Rapid and Ultra-rapid sites that will operate with an interim power supply of 50kW for between 3 to 9 months, due to necessary high voltage power upgrades required at the site.
RAA is working with SA Power Networks to prioritise these works, the cost to charge at sites with an interim power supply will be 49c / kWh during peak and non-peak hours. Once the necessary upgrades are complete, the charging sites will operate at the designed capacity of 150kW or 200kW.
Nine more fast chargers are under construction at present and will hopefully be available soon:
150kW Rapid Sites
- Town Hall, Wudinna
- Spud’s Roadhouse Motel, Pimba
- Dinham Drive, Ardrossan
- Council Hall, Peterborough
- Kimba Motel Roadhouse & Caravan Park, Kimba
- Roxby Central Shopping Centre, Roxby Downs
- Village Green Normanville Council, Normanville
200kW Ultra-rapid Sites
- Snowtown Roadhouse, Snowtown
- Marine Parade Carpark, Kingston
In a few days time South Australians will be able to get behind the wheel of an EV and take it for a spin around Adelaide, as part of the RAA Electric Drive Experience at this year’s Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC).
The RAA EV Drive Experience will provide South Australians with an opportunity to get behind the wheel of an EV and learn about the technology driving the future of sustainable transport in South Australia.
There will be 10 different EV brands available to book and test drive, including models from BYD, BMW, Porsche, MG, Ford, Nissan, Hyundai and Kia.
At the RAA marquee there will be a team of experts on hand to talk to event goers about EV charging at home and out on the road, and how to prepare for an electric future with advice on installing solar and battery solutions for your home.
Other event highlights will include talks from a range of climate, energy, and EV experts in the Cruiser Pavilion along with food trucks and entertainment.
The BWSC Village in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga will open on Thursday 26/10/23, with the RAA EV Drive Experience taking place from Friday 27 – 29/10/23.
South Australians can sign up for a test drive by visiting RAA EV Drive Experience @ Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2023.
