Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom (10x) arrives in Aus, #ZoomNotReinvented

Samsung have announced that the yet another S4 variant, the Galaxy S4 zoom is now available in Australia. The phone / camera features a 10x optical zoom lens, which clearly leaves it looking more like a camera with a phone strapped to it, than a phone with a great lens.

While Nokia took the #ZoomReinvented approach by having a large image sensor and enabling zooming in post, Samsung are taking a very different approach. The S4 Zoom features a 16 Megapixel CMOS Sensor with optical image stabilizer (OIS), and Xenon Flash, so it’s a pretty legitimate camera that will fit in your pocket.

Here’s some of the other notable features of the S4 zoom.

  • Display 4.3 inch qHD Super AMOLED (960×540) screen
  • AP 1.5GHz Exynos Dual-Core Processor
  • 8GB Internal memory (User memory approximately 5GB) + microSD slot (up to 64GB)
  • 1.5GB RAM
  • OS Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • WiFi a/b/g/n 5GHz, NFC,  Bluetooth® 4.0 (LE), A-GPS + GLONASS, micro-SIM (3FF)
  • Dimension 125.5 x 63.5 x 15.4 mm, 208g (with standard battery)
  • Battery 2,330mAh

The Samsung GALAXY S4 zoom will be available in-store from next week through selected Samsung retail
partners and at the Samsung Experience Stores in Melbourne and Sydney for an RRP of $699.
