Overnight Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 got under way. Heading up the conference was a Steve Ballmer keynote with plenty of information about SharePoint 2010.
Announced was the beta of SharePoint 2010 beta in November. Along with the announcement come news of other betas including the first public betas of Office 2010, Project 2010 and Visio 2010.
This is a big week for Microsoft, with the Visual Studio and Team Foundation Server 2010 beta 2 also now available, followed by Windows 7 retail launch at the end of the week. The Xbox Live Update preview including Facebook, Twitter and Zune Marketplace integration, is also set to be released mid-week.
If your interested in SharePoint or use it at your organisation, check out the keynote video below, it’s a big upgrade, massive improvements over SharePoint 2007. In SharePoint 2010, Microsoft re-focusing the product to be much more about internet facing websites as well as the traditional intranet solution.
From an end-user perspective, things get a lot easier in SharePoint 2010, with the familiar Office ribbon UI, as I said before.. a lots changed.. and for the better. The full release for the 2010 product catalogue is scheduled for early next year, personally, it can’t come soon enough.
