    Slingbox launches in Australia

For years Slingbox has been available in the US and the UK. Well finally Australians can buy their very own Slingbox.

If your not familiar with what a Slingbox does, basically it streams your TV or DVR content over the internet, allowing you to watch from anywhere with an internet connection.

The good news about waiting is that we get the best version of the Slingbox yet. The Slingbox SOLO allows for one HD video stream to be transmitted, while the Slingbox Pro allows for multiple HD video sources. Also the pro version includes a HD tuner built-in.

SlingPlayer software is available for both Mac and PC. The PC version is actually a better version, allowing for smooth playback skimming. With an IR blaster, you can actually configure the software to control some of the most popular devices, my personal favourite is the TiVo, where you actually get a virtual virtual TiVo remote on your screen.

I’m hoping the iPhone version is available shortly, even if restricted to Wi-Fi.

Where can you buy a Slingbox ?
The retailers are a pretty standard affair.. Harvey Norman, Domayne, Bing Lee, The Good Guys and JB Hi-Fi.

There’s no prices listed on the site just yet, but an online store will be available soon.
