The social network aggregator SocialThing was down yesterday during an update to their site. Well today they’ve launched version 2 and it comes with the addition of more social network integration including Digg and YouTube.
It’s good to see SocialThing adding support for additional networks, as the service had seemed to be at a stalemate for a while. While users can vote on a long list of networks to add next, this has seemed fairly pointless as we’ve been stuck with the core 4 or 5 over since launch.
Now supported are: Digg, Facebook, Flickr, Pownce, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube, Del.icio.us and Last.fm. SocialThing are also currently working on LiveJournal, MySpace and RSS integration. Personally RSS or WordPress integration would be the most valuable (techAU runs on WP).
As you can see there’s also a noticfication area at the top that lets you know how many updates you’ve recieved. This seems kind of redundant seem you can see these updates in your stream below.
Another new feature is the ability to simply click on a users profile and have it open in a new SocialThing tab, showing that users’ lifestream.
Overall a good update to the service.
