Tesla FSD Beta 11.4.2 is ready for prime time, going ‘wide release’ today

Tesla’s latest release of their FSD Beta software, version 11.4.2 is rolling out to customer cars now. This release (build 2023.7.10) features refinements on the previous build. While there are no official changes to the official release notes, a number of the content creators who have completed their first drives on the release indicate this has improved in several areas.

Elon Musk replied to a tweet from Whole Mars Catalog on the release, saying ‘This is the right release to go wide’.

So what is ‘wide release’ exactly? Based on previous comments around the US/Candada rollout, wide release refers to the ability for anyone with a hardware-compatible car, that either subscribes to or purchases the FSD Package outright, would receive the Beta build.

The last found of vehicles with FSD Beta was around 400,000, however with tens of thousands more vehicles on the road and the builds getting increasingly more capable (or at least fewer mistakes), this number is likely to grow rapidly.

In months gone by, users would have to achieve a safety score, based on driving behaviour over a period of weeks, to be eligible to get the build. This wide release indicates Tesla believes the software is ready for a broader group of users to use in their cars and on their daily drives.

Right now, there are 40 vehicles on TeslaScope getting the latest build, while on TeslaFi, there are 60 with FSD Beta 11.4.2 installed and another 114 pending.

Typically the rollout process starts with internal employees testing for a few days, ahead of releasing to a small group of early Beta testers, and subsequently to the broader FSD Beta user group over the next few days to a week.

This rollout already appears differently, with a number of people online reporting they’re getting it in their cars already.

Let us know in the comments if you’ve got it in your car, or have seen any videos of the release you liked, or didn’t.

Earlier in the week, we saw the first Tesla software release containing the FSD Beta code reach Australia, so we’ll be watching closely to see if any of these cars receive the latest beta build.

Below are the first hands-on drives with FSD Beta 11.4.2.

    1. Fabulous. This is probably one of the most difficult software challenges ever attempted, and despite the multitudes of “naysayers”, they’re really getting there. This WILL, sooner or later, be a game changer.
And with news of a few Aussie cars getting this- even if only company vehicles, it even looks good for mugs like us driving on the wrong side of the road.

    2. I simply cannot wait to try it out!!! The fact that we are seeing FSD Betas in Australia and “wide” releases in the USA…. all pointing to things moving closer and closer to FSD one day coming out of Beta. Will the World be ready for it?!?
