Consumer electronics company Uniden has announced a new partnership with Sydney-based EV charging platform ivygo. The collaboration aims to enhance the safety and security of ivygo’s innovative peer-to-peer EV charging network.
ivygo facilitates a decentralised charging model where individuals and businesses can share their private EV chargers with other drivers via their platform. This partnership means Uniden’s security cameras and dash cams will be integrated into the ivygo offering, giving users added peace of mind.
Hosts using the ivygo network to share their chargers will be able to monitor their equipment using Uniden’s security cameras. EV drivers using the service can benefit from Uniden dash cams for security while driving and charging.
“At Uniden, we’re always looking for new ways to apply our security expertise to emerging technologies. Partnering with ivygo allows us to support the EV community and provide solutions that help build a safer, more connected charging network across Australia.”
Brad Hales, Head of Marketing at Uniden Oceania.
The goal is to build trust within the community charging network, making the experience smoother and more secure for everyone involved. ivygo believes this adds a significant layer of confidence for their users.
“Our mission at ivygo is to make EV charging simple, accessible, and empowering for both drivers and hosts. Working with Uniden adds an extra layer of confidence for our users, helping hosts feel secure sharing their chargers and giving drivers peace of mind while on the go.”
ivygo’s Founder, Julie Perrissel
Starting from May 2025, ivygo users will gain access to exclusive pricing on selected Uniden security cameras and dash cams. This tech integration aims to create a more seamless and contactless charging experience.
With nearly one in ten new cars sold in Australia in 2024 being electric vehicles (9.65%, totalling 114,000), the demand for convenient and secure charging options is rapidly increasing. This partnership tackles key concerns for potential EV adopters head-on: charging availability and security.
ivygo is currently operating in a beta phase within Sydney. The company plans a broader rollout starting mid-2025, initially focusing on the Project 2515 electrification initiative community before expanding nationally.
