VW is bringing their ID. 4, ID.5 and ID.Buzz to Australia, but the ID.3 is not yet confirmed

Volkswagen has confirmed that they are bringing a range of electric vehicles to the Australian market. VW shared a dedicated electrification page for the Aussie market which features a range of models, which will add to an increasingly competitive landscape of EVs.

The page includes a number of ID models from Volkswagen, including the ID.4 Pro/ID.4 GTX, the ID.5 Pro/ID.5 GTX and the iconic ID.Buzz/ID.Buzz Cargo van.

The van will be an interesting entrant to our market, given there’s not a lot of options in this space. The Buzz is a design that many have seen and love and those that embark on Van life, would then have another option on top of Ford’s e-transit van which is much more industrial.

The ID.Buzz Cargo van offers a 650kg payload, however, the important specs of price and range are not yet known.

Missing from the lineup is the hot hatch, the ID.3, and in the comments on the VW Australia Facebook post, they responded with this statement ‘Hi Dean, unfortunately it’s not confirmed for a 2024 release down under but we hope to add it to our ID. Range in the future.” While this is no guarantee, this does sound promising and I think those keen to see it here should let VW know loud and clear we want it.

Volkswagen says their new range of all-electric models is inspired by performance and utilising innovative technology designed to reduce our impact on the environment, the range embodies the unlimited possibilities offered by eMobility.

While we focus on fully EVs on techAU, those buying hybrids may be interested to learn VW are also bringing its Touareg R eHybrid to Australia as well.

We look forward to more detailed specs for the Australian models, along with pricing, range and exact dates as they get closer to launch.
