The official SNOWDEN movie trailer is out and its fantastic. The 2:38 trailer does what all good trailers should, get you incredibly excited to see the move. Featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Nicolas Cage, the film is in cinemas on September 16th. If you’re at all interesting in the Edward Snowden story, then it’ll be worth a watch, even if you’re not, it looks like a decent way to spend a few hours of your life.

There’s of course many suggestions of Hollywood embellishments in this trailer, but that’s to be expected when you’re going for a mainstream audience. After being released today, the trailer has already racked up an impressive 1.5 Million views, expect that to grow, fast.

From the first time he speaks, you hear a different Gordon-Levitt than we’re used to. It’s clear he’s trying to emulate the voice of Snowden as much as possible and while its hard to conclude from a trailer how successful this is, by the end of it, he does sound convincing.

Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone, tackles one of the most important and fascinating stories of the 21st century. The movie dives into the politically-charged, polarizing world of Edward Snowden’s true story who gave up his life to expose the world to shocking illegal surveillance activities by the NSA and became one of the most wanted men in the world. Considered a hero by some, and a traitor by others this movie is sure to get your heart rate elevated and make you think twice about security.

As crazy as the spying revelations were, the story of why he did what he did and how he pulled it off, will make for one of the most compelling films of the year.
