If you’re a content creator in Australia, New Zealand, Japan or Canada, pay attention. Paying Elon Musk for Twitter Blue, now provides a significant opportunity.
Musk announced that Content Creators in these countries are now eligible to enable subscriptions on Twitter. This has previously been enabled in the US and some like Shibetoshi Nakamoto, have amassed 500 subscribers in just 3 days.
Back in February, Meta also announced a paid verification system, but I detailed why there was a massive difference between what the two social platforms were offering. Today, that difference arrived in Australia. At the time, Musk had announced that Twitter would share ad revenue with creators for ads that appear in their reply threads.
Twitter subscriptions ads to this opportunity for content creators to make money on Twitter. One of the key metrics that Musk measures Twitter’s success on is regretted minutes (or hours) on the platform. If you’re consuming more content from creators you like and enjoy, particularly when you feel so strongly to support them financially, that’s a good basis for improving on this KPI.
I’ve been a daily Twitter user since February 2008 and have close to 18,500 followers, a community that I love interacting with. They’re a great source of feedback on the articles I write, as well as helping me stay informed about the latest developments in technology.
I have already submitted my Twitter Subscriber application and when approved, will see more of my content be created on the platform, rather than elsewhere (YouTube and others) and shared to Twitter.
Let us know if you’re applying for Twitter subscriptions or what content you’d like to see more of.
