Tesla’s FSD Beta 11.3 is leaking all over the internet

Tesla’s FSD Beta version 11 software update may be the most anticipated software update in some time. There are more than 400,000 customers that are waiting to get access to the latest build. Version 11 has been expected for many months and the first videos of the new release are leaking to the internet right now.

FSD Beta 11.3 is currently only released to internal testers at Tesla, one of which clearly owns the @Winnersechelon Twitter account (or at least a close friend).

This account began sharing 11.3 photos and videos around 6 hours ago and continues to do so before the public gets access to the release. The release notes for this build, or at least some of them, were leaked to the internet yesterday which confirmed the highly anticipated single stack.

This merges the code used between highway and city driving to a single stack, constructed using Neural Nets, rather than human-crafted programming, taking into account their occupancy network to determine drivable space, as their path planning and prediction models enable the car to navigate through the world.

As impressive as FSD Beta is on city streets when you entered a highway, the logic would switch to the legacy stack. Now with this all running from a single stack, the question is.. does that make navigate on autopilot better?

There’s a lot in this release and we’re expecting a number of other refinements to the driving experience.

Based on the FSD Beta V11.3 content released by TeslaBull, here’s what we know so far:

    • The visualisations are updated and appear to track the road markings better than before.
    • Road edges are no longer expressed by red lines, instead using grey to match the rest of the design aesthetic
    • The path planning indicator (blue needle) has been completely revised.
    • Turning looks incredibly smooth and confident
    • Highway visualisations of FSD look to be as expected, with good visibility at high speeds
    • New Voice Notes feature prompts users to report if they experience issues.
    • Highway to city streets merge looks very smooth
    • The nag is still present, so Tesla hasn’t transitioned to driver monitoring as expected

Tesla had previously talked about V11 also containing an update to Smart Summon that would actually make it useful, rather than the party trick that it is today. This wasn’t in the release notes, but from TeslaBull’s latest post, it seems we’ll be getting confirmation soon enough if that is indeed improved in V11.

One commenter asked if the steering wheel nag is still present in this release. Unfortunately, it is, which means Tesla has not yet switched to driver monitoring using computer vision, as Musk suggested they would in January 2023. There is one however another explanation, the original question about removing the nag came from @WholeMarsCatalog who suggested it should be removed for people with more than 10,000 miles of driving on FSD Beta, which @Winnersechelon confirmed he does not have.

Tesla’s FSD Beta is currently only available in the United States and Canada, while the FSD software package is sold in many countries around the world including Australia, there are no fixed timelines for further rollouts.
