    Twitter Moments launches in Australia

    TwitterMoments

Twitter Moments is a curated collection of content around a single event, a breaking news story, a political or sporting event. These moments in time are exposed to Twitter users differently as to draw attention to them in a very different way than your regular timeline.

This morning Twitter users in Australia will notice a new Lightnight bolt icon in their mobile apps and website, which takes them directly to Moments.

Tapping on the new lightning bolt tab on your phone or on desktop opens a list of Moments that matter now. As new stories emerge throughout the day, we continue to update the list. You can also swipe through multiple topics like “Entertainment” and “Sports” to find more stories.

Right now the Twitter Moments are available for Today, News, Sports, Entertainment and Fun, of course we’d love to see Twitter add Moments for technology.

This could actually be a great way to consume Twitter, especially if you’ve been offline for a period of hours and need to catch up quickly. Typically your timeline is full of duplicated stories from different media organisations, however a curated Moment around an event could be the efficiency many Twitter users are after.

While Moments has been available internationally for some time, it’s great to see our local team getting things fired up, which includes ex-Gizmodo editor Luke Hopewell.

Best of luck to the team and go follow their new Twitter account – @momentsAU
