Logan Council installs chargers for their growing EV fleet

In a significant stride towards sustainable urban development, Logan Council has successfully installed a series of EV chargers, marking a pivotal milestone in their commitment to reducing carbon footprints through electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

Logan Council is located in the south of Brisbane, QLD and recently had 5x Ocular IQ Commercial Tethered chargers installed to recharge their growing Electric Vehicle Fleet.

The Council leverages 100% green power, supported by rooftop solar on existing Council buildings. This installation not only underscores Logan’s dedication to environmental sustainability but also enhances the accessibility of green transportation options for its residents.

The Ocular charging station, offers more than just a power point for EVs. It integrates smart charging capabilities, allowing users to leverage solar energy for charging, which aligns perfectly with Queensland’s sunny climate. The station supports multiple charging modes, including Fast, Solar Assist, and Solar Only, providing flexibility for users to optimize their charging based on solar generation or grid availability.

The Ocular station’s advanced features, like real-time charging feedback through an LCD screen and app control, add layers of convenience, making the transition to EVs smoother for users.

This initiative by Logan Council reflects a broader trend across Queensland, where local governments are increasingly investing in EV infrastructure. The move is part of a concerted effort to make sustainable transportation accessible to everyone, thereby encouraging a shift from fossil fuel-dependent vehicles to cleaner, electric alternatives.

The installation was shared by Ocular to their Linked In page, who gave credit to and thanks to the expertise of Chris Lunney from the Cinc Group, who ensured that the project met high standards of quality and efficiency.

The Ocular IQ Commercial Tethered charger features a heavy-duty design, featuring a metallic frame designed for durability. Crafted for robustness, the charger features a large LCD screen for user interaction, making it ideal for public and fleet charging applications.

The charger offers an output range of between 7kW to 22kW, it’s adaptable to various charging needs, whether it’s for a quick top-up or a full charge.

Logan Council opted for a tethered cable, allowing staff to simply plug and charge, simplifying the experience. When the charging session ends, the cable is plugged into a static port on the charger stand to ensure the cable isn’t left on the ground.
