After the week long delay in Aus, I finally picked up my copy of Assassin’s Creed yesterday, here’s my take on the game.
Warning:
After getting the game yesterday, I’ve found it really hard 2 put down. So let this be a warning to anyone who’s getting their Assassin on, clear your calendar!
Graphics:
After seeing some stunning trailers for the game I was expecting a lot of this game, and for the most part it delivers, there are a couple of moments that left me feeling like the developers skimped on the detail.
Gameplay:
Massive levels and dizzying heights, allow for hours to be spent on exploration. Kinda reminded me a lot of Crackdown, where you can pretty much climb 2 anywhere you can see. Some of the cut scenes do drag on and there’s no option to skip.
The game can feel repetitive in places but I suspect that has 2 do with the very similar design of different parts of the map, one city looking almost identical to the next. The reality is the place is huge, there’s a heap of challenges 2 keep you busy, both mandatory and optional.
Overall
I’m guessing I’ve put in about 11-12 hours so far and am still loving it despite the couple of negatives listed above. Assassin’s Creed is a really solid, adventurous game that allows you to use your exploratory side. After getting caught laying your assassin target 2 rest, loosing the heat takes some creative exits at times. Multi-fights are challenging, yet fun, and climbing the sides of enormous towers then diving off the side into pile of hey, is just plain good fun that never gets old.
Rating: Must have!!
Review system explained.. Most sites review products using a number or stars etc, I really don’t take must from that type of rating system, it doesn’t tell me if I should buy the game or not which ultimately is what gamers are reading reviews to find out. So here’s how I’ll rate things, not just games but anything I review from now on.
- Must Have (Take out a loan for this one)
- Solid, but not Spectacular (If you’ve got money 2 blow)
- Don’t bother (Save the $$$ for better game)
- Do NOT buy it! (It’d be embarrassing to have this at your place)
