The Rudd Government’s $8bn fibre network is being delayed for at least a few months. The provider is still yet to be selected. The FTTN network aims to give broadband of at least 8Mbps to 98% of Australians.
It sounds like a great step foward for Australia in this digital age, but action is needed not delay after delay. The network is already expected to take 5 years to complete, by that time the international speeds for broadband, may well surpass the projected speeds for this project.
