Optus has opened the doors of a new experiential customer experience, the immersive superstore is located in its flagship store in Bourke Street, Melbourne. Located centrally in the CBD shopping precinct, the 435 square metre store was designed to be uniquely Melbourne with customers journeying through zones and spaces that re-imagine the city’s iconic laneways.
The décor will feature Melbourne street artist Adrian Doyle’s graffiti-inspired murals featuring famous Australian personalities.
The Victorian store will revolutionise in-store experiences for our customers across six interactive zones:
- Gaming
- Health and Fitness
- Garage and Outdoor
- Home offices
- Lounge and living spaces
- Home Security
Being a leading telco, we’re used to Optus selling mobile devices and supportive electronics, but this is the first time we’ve seen that extend all the way to the garage, where an Electric Vehicle charger is available.
The charger is the Ocular Smart Home EV Charging Station which offers 7kW charging on Single Phase power, or as much as 22kW if you have Three Phase. This includes a 6m Type 2 EV Cable which is compatible with the vast majority of EVs sold in Australia. You can also connect this to WiFi and have your charging data shown on a mobile app in real-time and schedule charging sessions, great if your car doesn’t have this feature.
Such is the state of Australia’s electric vehicle adoption that it’s now going mainstream, showing in locations like this new Telstra store, Bunnings, Supercheap Auto and more retailers.
The Optus store also offers an EVE Aqua Smart Water controller, along with Ring’s home security products. We also spot products from Sonos, business-focused web cameras by Poly, Tablets by Google and much more.
The fun doesn’t stop there, the flagship store’s range of products also boasts the latest headphones, VR headsets, and products for Gamers.
This isn’t just a sales destination, but an experience centre, allowing gamers to kick back and take aim at the latest Rocket League football cloud gaming challenge inside the ultimate lounge-back gaming retreat.
Optus’ Maurice McCarthy, Managing Director Customer Success, said the flagship Bourke Street Store would set a new standard for Optus customers’ connectivity experiences and define the future of shopping with us.
A digital concierge will ensure shoppers can use QR code tech to minimise waiting time in queues and direct customers to personalised in-store expertise and advice.
A dedicated hub caters to small business owners’ tech needs alongside the ultimate home office set-up environment.
With more Australians watching their environmental footprint, there will also be sustainability zones dedicated to outdoor water management, electric vehicle charging and cameras.
Construction decisions have considered sustainability, using recyclable steel and FSC-certified timber joinery, low-power LED lighting and lighting sensors to reduce power consumption.
