We’ve seen the crowns for 1TB and 1.5TB fall, the next hard drive size – 2TB has now been accomplished. Keep in mind we’re talking 7200 RPM consumer drives. As per usual expect to pay a premium for a single 2TB drive over the equivalent 2 x 1TB drives.
The drive is reportedly shipping today, although actually sourcing it (especially in Australia) may take a couple of weeks. The real benefit here is for those with high storage demands that are maxing out their NAS drive bays. Old drives can now be replaced with these 2TB drives to reach an amazing 6, 8 or even 10 TB of storage.
