It’s days like today that make me love the technology industry. Software updates are almost an everyday occurrence when you live and breath technology. Sometimes those are just window dressing, but occasionally those changes actually make your life easier !
Two things I use everyday is Twitter and Facebook and like many I’ve tried having my twitter posts update my Facebook status, but that very quickly drove my non-tech friend crazy.
Well the new version of TweetDeck (my favourite twitter client) changes all that. Giving simple control over when and where your updates get posted. This is done via checkboxes (pictured above), simple, but it works really really well.
Perhaps even more important is the addition of panel to watch your friends Facebook status updates. This avoids the need to continually open Facebook in a browser and use one application for twitter and Facebook, saving time and making you more productive. Now Facebook are currently developing an Adobe AIR application for the desktop, but it may be too late now this feature has arrived in TweetDeck now!
Admittedly it doesn’t offer all the functionality of the Facebook site, but for me it’s pretty much the most important part.
There’s also the new Autocomplete @ reply feature, available from the settings menu. This works by simply inserting the @ symbol to reply to someone, the prompt appears (displaying your friends) then you can search or just select the person you want to reply to.
