Believe it or not there are people who simply won’t by Apple products (choose between the inflated prices or a locked down ecosystem for reasons why). Well Microsoft have just confirmed the long standing rumours about a Zune HD.
This is one sleek device. Dropping the lame squircle in favour of a full touch-screen, a screen that’s OLED with a 480×272 resolution. My question is, will Australians (and other markets outside the US) finally get a practical alternative to the iPod Touch ?

The Zune HD will also feature multitouch and a portable browser based on Internet Explorer.
The other question is of course price.. no details yet, but this is certainly one to watch. Let’s hope for a pricing war between Microsoft and Apple, that should ultimately benefit us consumers.
