Exclusive: New Evie Networks EV charger location in Sydney revealed

Evie Networks continues to invest expand their network of electric vehicle chargers. We recently received a tip about a new, as yet, unannounced location that is sure to get some in Sydney pretty excited.

The next Evie EV charger will be located at Bakehouse Quarter in North Strathfield in Sydney’s Inner West.

The proposed change to the carpark at 9 George Street would see 2x Evie Charging stations installed in front of 4 dedicated EV charging bays. There are a total of 76 car spaces currently in the carpark and the redevelopment would actually see this increase to a total of 87 spaces (including the 4 charging bays).

The area features cobble stoned streets, leafy parks, a selection of retail outlets including restaurants, gyms, childcare, bars and cafes, the precinct provides the perfect business and social environment.

With charging infrastructure, you can recharge your body and your car at the same time.

If we take a look at the existing carpark on Google Maps, there’s definitely plenty of room for improvement there.

Regarding a timeline for when we can expect the charger to be installed, that’s difficult to say. What we’ve seen today are proposal planning documents, which suggests the approvals, acquisition and installation and activation steps all still lie ahead for this location. If I had to guess, early-mid next year would be a likely timeframe.

This location feels strategic, as charging infrastructure in the area isn’t great. This will be Evie’s largest DC fast charger installation for quite some distance. There’s no confirmation at this stage on how fast the chargers will be, but let’s hope they do the right thing for the future and for the potential customer flow at this location and add 150kW+ at this site.
