Google has just revealed its new look Google Maps app for Android phones and tablets (also coming to iOS) featuring a “new mapping experience” that Google promises will make things a lot easier. The app is slowing rolling out globally in Google Play and will be available “soon” on the App Store.
There are a few new features which Google has highlighted, the first of which is Explore. Explore builds upon Google Now’s card based interface and allows you to browse places to eat, drink, sleep and shop based on recommendations and your location.
The next new addition is the “enhanced navigation” which will become your new best friend when stuck in traffic. The app will now show you what the actual cause of the hold up is and will alert you if a better route is available and reroute you to your destination faster.
It all looks like welcome improvements and anything that builds upon the already impressive Google Now/Card navigation should be pretty great.
