Tesla Cybertruck arrives in Sydney, Australia

Tesla’s Cybertruck has been on somewhat of a global tour recently despite only being delivered to customers in North America. When Cybertruck was announced back in November 2019, the Cybertruck was available to reserve in Australia and even today still has an AU page on Tesla’s website, strongly suggesting the company will offer it here.

Last night, the Tesla Australia New Zealand Instagram account posted a teaser photo of a shipping container being unloaded with the famous eyes emoji.

    Update
The Tesla ANZ Instagram account has now officially shared the photo of Cybertruck new to a Model 3 and Model Y.

One of our followers was also able to grab a couple of behind the scenes photos of the Cybertruck getting ready for it’s Australian photoshoot.

Tesla conducted a notable tour of the Cybertruck in China in early 2024. The tour kicked off simultaneously in eight major Chinese cities:

    • Beijing
    • Shanghai
    • Shenzhen
    • Hangzhou
    • Nanjing
    • Xi’an
    • Chengdu
    • Chongqing

The Cybertruck also made its way recently to Japan, notably another right-hand drive market like Australia.

While the Cybertruck features a controversial design, its role in the Australian electric ute / truck landscape is potentially very important.

Utes are consistently the highest selling vehicle category in Australia and currently we have almost no electric utes that have the range, payload, towing capacity and affordability for even the most enthusiastic traddie to transition.

The starting price for the first Cybertrucks are certainly not cheap at up to US$100k for a tri-motor Cyberbeast, however more affordable models are on the way as Tesla ramps production.

As it stands right now, there’s been a number of verbal confirmations, but no official photos shared online of the Cybertruck in Sydney. If that happens, we’ll update the post.

    Update

We have further, now written confirmation that the Cybertruck is indeed in Sydney.
