Apple is going on a hiring spree for its upcoming iWatch ahead of a late 2014 launch

According to the Financial Times, Apple has apparently stepped up its game significantly in a bid to hire a new engineer for its rumoured smartwatch. The report also mentions that CEO Tim Cook could still scrap the device, but that Apple currently has “several dozen” people actively working on the iWatch. It also suggests that at the rate the project is going, the device won’t be ready for release until late 2014 which goes against rumours that it could be ready by the end of this year.

With such a long wait for the smartwatch, it leaves open a massive window for the likes of Samsung and Google to be the first to really bring this segment of the market to the masses like Apple did in 2010 with the iPad for tablets.
