Digg, build an iPhone App or open you API to Shovel

If your a fan of Digg and you own an iPhone, then your probably familiar with a nice little app called Shovel. This puts Digg in your pocket.

Of course you can go to m.digg.com and get their mobile view (pictured below), but as we know, applications are faster, more responsive and generally offer a better user experience than visiting site in Mobile Safari.

The problem is you can’t Digg a story (or bury for that matter) using the Shovel App. They’re very clear about the reason why – “The Digg API doesn’t allow this”.

So Digg, please either release your own iPhone Application or open your API to allow Shovel to add this functionality. Ultimately it’s in Digg’s best interest to allow millions of iPhone users access and contribute to the Digg community while out on the go.
