Tesla has posted 6 new positions on their Australian Careers page. These new roles include an ADAS Operations Manager, Operations Supervisor and 4 Lead ADAS Test Operator roles. While the Manager and Supervisor positions are located in Alexandria, New South Wales, the Test Operator roles are spread across NSW, VIC, WA and QLD.
Back in June, I posted that Tesla had posted 4 positions titled – Vehicle Operator (Test Driver). I commented at the time that in the US.
For those not familiar with the terminology here, ADAS stands for Advanced Driver-Assistance System. Tesla’s Autopilot falls under this definition, however, their autonomous efforts are known as Full Self-Driving (or FSD), but still out of the Autopilot team.
In America, Tesla hired ADAS test drivers to perform internal releases of FSD Beta prior to them being released to the public.
Typically the latest software releases are in employee cars for testing for a few days to a couple of weeks before a release makes it to customer vehicles.
With Tesla hiring more ADAS team members and particularly the higher level positions of Manager and Supervisor, this shows they’re getting serious about an FSD entry into the Australian market. The total advertised test positions at this stage is now at 10.
