Cadillac LYRIQ will arrive in Australia in 2025

This week, General Motors brand Caddilac announced it was bringing the all-electric Cadillac LYRIQ to Australia in 2025. Australia and New Zealand will be the first markets for the right-hand-drive version.

The introduction of Cadillac and LYRIQ – and the focus on three capital city launch markets with an exclusive EV portfolio – presented an opportunity to re-imagine the luxury sales and aftersales experience for customers.

In keeping with the luxury position of the Cadillac brand, dedicated ‘Experience Centres’ will be established in Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland. Together with an intuitive online presence that will enable customers to explore and buy fully online, these will be the foundations of the retail strategy for the Cadillac EV business in Australia and New Zealand.

The Cadillac LYRIQ, which will be available in Australia and New Zealand as a 2025 model, is a fully electric SUV that redefines modern luxury as the industry moves to electrification.

Cadillac is experiencing great sales momentum thanks to our strong product portfolio – and we are now expanding our business globally. The introduction of a right-hand-drive LYRIQ will enable new opportunities in important markets where EV adoption is strong.

LYRIQ sets the standard for the future of Cadillac. It elevates our iconic brand through artfully integrated technology, premium craftmanship, and dedication to delivering spirited performance.

The Cadillac LYRIQ is a luxury electric SUV that is making waves in the automotive industry. With its sleek design, spacious interior, and impressive range, the LYRIQ is sure to appeal to discerning buyers looking for an electric vehicle that doesn’t compromise on style or performance.

    Powertrain and Performance

The LYRIQ is available in two powertrain configurations: rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The rear-wheel drive model is powered by a single electric motor that produces 340 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is capable of accelerating the LYRIQ from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.

The all-wheel drive model adds a second electric motor to the front axle, which increases power output to 500 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain reduces the 0-60 mph time to 4.4 seconds.

Both powertrains are paired with a 102.0 kWh battery pack that provides an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 505km (314 miles) for the rear-wheel drive model and 494km (307 miles) for the all-wheel drive model. The LYRIQ is also compatible with DC fast charging, which can add up to 305km (190 miles) of range in just 30 minutes.

    Interior and Technology

The LYRIQ’s interior is designed to provide a luxurious and comfortable experience. The cabin is spacious and well-appointed, with ample legroom and headroom for all passengers. The front seats are heated and ventilated, and the rear seats offer a generous amount of legroom and can be folded down to create up to 60.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

The LYRIQ is also equipped with a host of advanced technology features, including a 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display, a Cadillac Smart System suite of safety and driver assistance features, and Google built-in.

Cadillac will be in a position to offer a fully electric portfolio by 2030,” said Bala. “Launching our all-new, all-electric Cadillac EV business in Australia and New Zealand positions us well to be able to select the right models for these markets – just as we are doing with LYRIQ.

The launch of Cadillac signals the introduction of our modern automotive luxury brand for our markets – one which features electric vehicles front and centre with the promise of more models to come.

On a more personal level, I am beyond excited to be part of the team bringing Cadillac to Australia and New Zealand and am so incredibly proud to be doing so with the stunning all-electric LYRIQ.

Jess Bala, Managing Director GM Australia and New Zealand

Australia and New Zealand are at a formative stage of the EV transition, which presented new opportunities for Cadillac and were important factors in selecting these countries as the first right-hand-drive markets for Cadillac LYRIQ, said Ernesto Ortiz, President and Managing Director of GM’s Strategic Markets, Alliances, and Distributors.

“Cadillac’s iconic brand and LYRIQ’s bold design make it a compelling combination for Australians and New Zealanders who have an eye for quality, love technology and want to challenge the status quo and stand out from the crowd,”

Cadillac ‘Experience Centres’ will be locations where customers can discover more about Cadillac as a modern luxury brand and explore, test drive, and buy a LYRIQ. It is not clear where and how many of these experience centers GM will have in Australia.

If you like the design and specs and don’t mind a wait or the steep price tag, you can register to be notified when it arrives in Australia and New Zealand, at cadillacanz.com/register.
