Microsoft adds Teams plugin for Stream Deck, Power Automate next??

Microsoft has released an official Teams app for Elgato’s Stream Deck. This popular hardware device is popular with streamers online, allowing them to control hardware and software at the touch of a button.

The Teams app for Stream Deck comes with a range of features including:

    • Background blur: Toggle AI background blur and get that DLSR-like bokeh effect
    • Camera: Easily turn your camera on/off
    • Leave: Don’t be the last to leave a meeting because you couldn’t find the on-screen button
    • Mute: Mute your mic exactly when you need to
    • Raise hand: Speak up without fumbling with your mouse
    • Record: Start and stop recording in a snap, and see if a recording is in progress
    • Reactions: Applause, laugh, like, wow

Given the volume of options here, it’s likely many will create a folder or separate page to house all of the teams functions on Stream Deck.

Launched today, the initial release of the Teams plugin (v1.0.39) is available now in the Stream Deck Store. This requires Stream Deck 4.1 or later and Windows 10 or later. You can download it here.

Once you’ve installed the plugin, you’ll be able to drag each feature into the Stream Deck interface. From there your options are fairly limited, just add a title and then drop in an API token.

This should be available under Settings > Privacy in the Teams app, but will need to be on the latest build of Microsoft Teams to see it.

While the Teams plugin for Stream Deck is a nice inclusion (once we can use it), I see one of the biggest opportunities for Stream Deck to enter the business world, is to get a plugin for Power Automate. There are plenty of tasks we do in our work lives that a repeated and pressing a button to launch automation would reduce the time required to execute common tasks.
