After recently increasing the storage limit, YouTube have now confirmed they will offer a higher-quality video if viewers want it. YouTube are currently testing a new player that detects the users bandwidth and offers a higher quality version of the video.
Interestingly YouTube actually keeps a copy of all uploaded video at the original res. Problem is, most people knowing YouTube player only plays back at 320×240, a lot of users export their video at that size, so the new player would see no benefit.
Knowing this is less than 3 months away, I urge all of you that upload vids to YouTube, to upload your videos in higher quality, so that when the new player launches, people with faster broadband connection can actually enjoy videos in full screen mode.
